Description

The Golden Horn is an almshouse that has been converted into two attached cottages, dated 1844 and marked with the initials MMS (Marcia Sheridan) above the central porch. The building features flint and banded stone walls with a low chamfered stone plinth. It has clay tile roofs with stone gable copings and moulded kneelers. There are stacks located on the left rear wing, the right-hand ridge, and the right front angle, all with stone plinths and coupled polygonal brick stacks that have crenellated and moulded cornices.

The main range of the building has cross-wings at each end and is 1½ storeys high with four bays on the front. The windows are stone-mullion types, hollow-chamfered, and feature cross-transoms on the ground floor, with lozenge leaded lights in iron casements. The doors include a moulded four-centred head and jambs on the left-hand end wall, leading to a plank door with strap hinges that are studded. The central front porch also has a similar door, as does the door at the right-hand end.
