Description

Samways Bridge spans the River Frome and was built in the late 18th century. It is constructed of brick in English bond with brick copings and features three spans. The bridge has segmental arches with cutwaters. On the upstream side, there are brick roundels in the spandrels that contain defaced busts, while the downstream side has bas-relief roundels. The parapet is made of wooden post-and-rail construction, with diagonal strutting between the posts. The bridge serves as the west drive to Frampton House.
