Description

A dwarf wall, railings, and gates dating to 1837, constructed of hammer-dressed stone. Two rusticated stone piers are located at the north end, opposite number 48. A single pier with a pyramidal cap sits at the south end, opposite number 62. Iron railings extend westward from the northern piers as far as number 48, featuring fleur-de-lys and urn finials. Iron gates provide access to the front gardens of numbers 48 to 56 (even) and also numbers 64 and 64A, incorporating a vine leaf trellis design. Originally, the wall encompassed the gardens of numbers 64 and 64A, prior to the construction of numbers 58 and 60. The wall, railings, and gates form a group with the coachhouses and stables of numbers 48 to 56.
