Description
No 21 on St James Street is a cottage dating from around the 17th century. It is two storeys high and features two windows facing the street and two windows facing east. The building is constructed from stone rubble and rough ashlar, and it is the end cottage of a row, likely originally designed as two separate dwellings. The steep roof is partly thatched and partly covered with plain tiles. There are two gabled dormers on the east side. At the rear, there are remnants of a 17th century or early 18th century brick chimney, which has a recessed round-headed panel on each face. The cottage has various types of casement windows and has undergone many alterations. No 21, along with Nos 21 to 33 (odd) and 33A, forms a group.
