Description

Nos. 2 and 3 St Edmund Street are a pair of houses with a shop, located at the end of a row and returning to No. 53 St Mary Street. They were built in the early 19th century and feature a rendered exterior with a slate roof. The buildings are three storeys high, each with two windows that have glazing-bar sashes set in plain reveals on stone sills. The second floor has 9-pane windows, while the first floor has deep 12-pane windows that open onto a continuous balcony. This balcony, which returns one bay to the left, is supported by iron brackets and has a boarded soffit. It features an original decorative cast-iron balustrade with honeysuckle motifs.

The ground floor is channelled and includes a late 19th-century shop front with three narrow panes and three wider panes divided by thin mullions, along with recessed central glazed doors. There is a one-bay return of the display front to St Mary Street. Above the first-floor windows, there are two broad flat raised panels, with the words 'Beehive Stores' faintly visible from earlier painting.

On the return front, there are two eaves stacks and two windows, along with a blank light at the first and second floors. The ground floor features a replacement window and, to the left, a panelled door beneath a radial fanlight. The return frontage also has a moulded cornice, a slight blocking-course, and a coped parapet. The interior has not been inspected.
