Description
The Pump Handle, Mid-Cot, and Hamers Cottage is a row of three cottages dating from the 10th century, with 19th and 20th century alterations to the windows. The cottages have chalk block walls that are rendered, and their roofs are made of asbestos slate and corrugated asbestos, with a gabled roof at the left end and a hipped roof at the right end. There are brick stacks located at the left centre party wall, the right centre party, and at the apex of the right-hand hip. The buildings are two storeys high and have a total of nine windows. The Pump Handle features 19th century two-light iron casements, while Mid-Cot has 19th and 20th century two-light casements, and Hamers has 20th century two-light wooden casements. Each cottage has a 20th century plank stable-type door at its centre. Inside, there are open fireplaces with brick jambs and wooden lintels, back-to-back in Mid-Cot and Hamers.
