Description
The Old Rectory is a rectory located in Bradford Peverell Village, now serving as a private house. It was built in the early 19th century, with a mid-19th century top storey and a rear wing that houses the kitchen range. The building features rubble stone walls that are stuccoed and painted on the front (south) elevation. There are plat bands above the ground floor and first floor windows. The slate roofs have parallel ridges and gable ends. A large projecting stack is present on the west front gable, with a rendered stack extending over three storeys. The front facade has three sash windows with glazing bars, and the top floor windows have segmental heads. A 20th-century ironwork verandah runs along the south front, topped with a glazed-in pentice roof. The entrance on the west wall features a six-panel door, also from the 20th century, with panelled reveals and a fanlight above. Inside, a thick central wall runs longitudinally, indicating that the house was extended to its current double-depth and completely refashioned in the 19th century.
