Description

Wrackleford House is a manor house set in grounds, built in the early to mid-19th century, with elements from an earlier 17th-century structure incorporated at the rear. The house features stone walls that are rendered, with a plat band and a projecting stone cornice. It has a hipped slate roof and rendered stacks located at the ridge, immediately to the left and right of the center. The building is two storeys high and has a total of five windows, with sash windows that have plate glass on the ground floor and glazing bars in the upper half. The front doorway is centrally located and dates from the mid-19th century, featuring paired fielded panels and bossed roundels at the center, with three large glass lights above that illuminate the hall. The porch, in the Roman Doric order, carries an entablature with a dentil cornice and a flat stone top.

On the south garden elevation, the house originally had three windows but was altered to include two-light French windows on both the ground and first floors in the late 19th century. There is a smaller porch on the north side that serves as an entrance and is a scaled-down version of the main front porch.

Inside, the house has a wide central hall with three segmental transverse arches and fluted pilasters with bossed imposts. The door reveals are adorned with chamfered fielded panels, and there are rib-panel doors throughout. The Drawing Room features a white marble fireplace, framed by reeded quarter-circles around the hearth. A billiard room, built in the 19th century, was demolished in 1970. A plan of the house from 1890, created by Crickmays, is located within the house.
