Description
No 16 South Street is a building from the mid-18th century, constructed of red brick with a pitched tile roof and red brick stacks. It stands two storeys tall with attics, featuring a moulded eaves cornice and a parapet. The first floor has three sashes with glazing bars, while the attic includes two dormers—one with a sash and glazing bars and the other a casement—both topped with hipped tiled roofs and tile-hung cheeks. The ground floor showcases a mid-19th century shopfront with panelled pilasters and a central recessed porch. To the right, there is a yard entry with modern reconstituted stone quotas, a round arch, and a semi-circular fanlight. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 10 even, the Unitarian Chapel, Nos 12 to 32 even, and the Holy Trinity Gallery.
