Description
A pair of mid-18th century properties on South Street. The building is constructed of chequer brick with a pitched tile roof, stone slates above the eaves, and red brick stacks. It is two storeys high with an attic, and features a band running along the facade. There are three attic dormers, each with hipped tile roofs, tile-hung cheeks, and sash windows. The first floor has four casement windows; three have been modernized, while one retains leaded glazing bars. Number 15 has a modern shopfront, whereas Number 17 has a contemporary double-bowed shopfront accentuated by a continuous dentil-detailed entablature supported by five fluted, three-quarter columns. Most of the glazing bars have been renewed, with the exception of the left-hand window which retains original leaded glass. The central entrance door consists of two moulded panels and retains its original latch. Numbers 9 to 19 (odd) are designated as a group.
