Description
No. 18, known as Cockers, is an attached cottage located on the south side of Long Street in Cerne Abbas. It dates from the 17th century, with an 18th-century wing at the rear. The cottage features roughcast walls that are painted white, and the west gable wall is slate-hung. The thatched roof has a gable end to the west and a thatched ridge at the rear. There are late 19th-century brick stacks at the party wall and another ridge stack positioned to the right of center. The building is two storeys high and has three windows with regular spacing, featuring three-light wooden casements with glazing bars from the 20th century. The front door is centrally located and dates from the early 19th century, characterized by flush and recessed panels, panelled reveals, and a moulded architrave supported by open pediments on moulded brackets.
