Description

The Giant Inn is an attached public house built in the early 20th century. It features red brick walls in stretcher bond, with ornamental brick pilaster-buttresses at the corners and moulded wooden brackets above. The roof is slate, with brick stacks located behind the ridge on the left side and in front of the ridge on the right side. The building has two storeys and three windows on the first floor, which have segmental heads and a Venetian window at the center. The brickwork is gauged, and each window has tripartite casements with a close mesh of glazing bars.

On the ground floor, there are canted bay windows to the left and right of the entrance. The left bay has four one-light windows with lead lights, displaying an "Old English" revival influence over the transom. The right side features two canted bays of the same design, with a continuous stretcher brickwork plinth. The front door is set in, with two leaves and a recessed panel, topped with 12 lights. Above the canted bays, there is a continuous name-board for the entire length, finished with a moulded cornice. Inside, there is a large stone fireplace with moulded jambs and a four-centred head, which has been reset and dates back to the 16th century.
