Description
The Old Bell is an attached former inn, now functioning as tea rooms, dating from the late 16th century or later. The building has a coursed rubble-stone base up to the cill level, with walls made of knapped flint and chalk blocks that are banded. The area between the first-floor windows is rendered. It features a thatched roof with brick stacks located at the left gable, the ridge center, and the right party wall.
The structure is two storeys high and has three windows on the front. The ground floor includes three and four-light hollow-chamfered stone mullions, each with separate labels above. The windows are fitted with iron casements and fixed lead lights. On the first floor, there are three-light wooden casements that have a horizontal glazing bar and wooden cills. The front door, positioned to the right of center, has a depressed-arch head, a plank-and-muntin design, and a wooden lintel. The interior and rear wing are likely of historic importance but were not inspected.
