Description

Gate House Cottage is a detached toll-house built in the 18th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The cottage features stone walls that are rendered and painted, and it has a gabled thatch roof. There are brick stacks on the left side and a rendered stack on the right side. The building is two storeys high and has three windows, which are two-light wooden casements with glazing bars. On the ground floor, there is a canted bay on each side of the front door, which has fixed single panes of glass—two in the front and one on each side. The front door is centrally located, with recessed panels and one top light, also from the 20th century. The slate-roofed outshut at the rear is not considered of special interest.
