Description
The Old Town Hall, formerly listed as Town Hall, is a building of historical significance located on West Street in Corfe Castle. It has origins dating back to the 17th century but was largely rebuilt around 1774. The structure features walls made of rubble stone up to the first floor, with brick above, and a plat band at the first floor level. The roof is covered with stone slates.
On the ground floor facing the road, there are two panelled doors, one stone mullioned window with lead lights, and a small plain window. The first floor showcases two round-headed windows with lead lights set in stone surrounds, each with projecting keystones, and there is a similar window in the north gable wall. Inside, the former Council Chamber on the first floor has an ornamental plaster cornice. The ground floor is currently used as a museum.
