Description
Manor Cottage is a detached house, originally built in the early 18th century and significantly altered in the mid-19th century. The house is constructed of knapped flint and banded stone, with dressed stone quoins. It has a corrugated iron roof with stone gable copings, moulded kneelers, and boxed wooden eaves. A brick stack is located at the left-hand gable, and another at the ridge towards the right-hand side. The house is two storeys high and has three windows on the front elevation, with stone dressings to the ground floor windows and brick dressings above. The ground floor windows formerly had mullions, and now contain three-light wooden casements with horizontal glazing-bars, wooden sills, and 20th-century glass. Two doors are present: the main entrance is located towards the right-hand side, with flush panels and two top lights, dating to the mid-19th century, and is covered by a gabled canopy supported by two chamfered posts. A second door is situated on the left-hand side, also with flush panels and four top lights, and is accessed via a wooden porch with a shingle roof. A continuous outshut extends along the rear of the house and has a corrugated iron roof. Two stone-framed mullions are visible at the rear, with 20th-century casements inserted.
