Description

The stone gateway on the north side of the gatehouse of the former Her Majesty's Prison Dorchester is made of rusticated ashlar limestone. The elevation features a central projecting bay with a large pair of double doors set beneath a semi-circular arch made of large stone voussoirs. The façade is built from rusticated coursed stone blocks, with a central string course and another string course above the arch. The entire elevation is finished with a plain stone parapet at the top.
