Description
Moonfleet Manor Hotel is a former manor house that dates back to the 18th century. It was remodeled in 1880 and restored in 1896. The building features stone walls that are rendered and painted, with an asbestos slate roof that is hipped and has a bell-cast profile. There are brick stacks located at the ridge on the left side and left of center.
On the south elevation, the hotel has two storeys and dormers, with four sash windows that have thin glazing bars and stone cills. At the center, there is a segmental bay with fixed ground floor windows and sashes above. To the right of center, there is a 20th-century back door with glass panels. The north elevation has six sash windows with glazing bars, stone architraves painted white, and projecting stone keys. There is a porch on the left of center supported by Ionic columns and featuring a dentil cornice. The front door is panelled with glass lights above, dating from the 20th century.
The east end of the house includes a canted bay with a dentil string and Ionic pilasters at the ground floor level. Inside, the main south room showcases early 19th-century ribbed panelling, with a segmental bay at the rear of the room that has recess-panel sides. The southwest wing, added in the 20th century, is not considered of special interest.
