Description

The Village Cross, located on the north side of Dorchester Road in Maiden Newton, is a significant historical structure dating back to the 15th century. It is made of Lias stone and features a square base with the lower part of a roughly square stem, standing approximately 5 feet high. The shaft of the cross has beaded angles, and on the west face, there are weathered remains of figures that stand on a corbelled projection. This site is recognized as a Scheduled Ancient Monument, designated as Dorset No. 138.
