Description

Sandpit is a detached house, formerly a farmhouse, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of dressed stone with a Roman-tile roof, featuring stone gable copings. Brick stacks are located at the left-hand gable, to the left of the centre on the rear pitch, and the right-hand gable. The house is two storeys high and has five windows. The windows have 2, 3, and 4-light mullions with hollow chamfers, fitted with 20th-century metal casements and lead lights. Individual labels are positioned above the ground floor windows, but there are no labels above the first-floor windows. The front door, centrally located, is plank-and-muntin construction, studded with a single lozenge light. A porch, dating from the 20th century, features two 'Tuscan' stone columns and a flat wooden canopy. A continuous outshut extends along the rear of the house, running under a catslide roof, and includes 2 and 3-light stone mullions lighting the gable end.
