Description
Rose Cottage is a building dating from the 18th century or earlier, located on Long Street. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring three window bays. The steep gabled roof is covered with plain tiles and includes one gabled dormer. The front is constructed of stone rubble, with small modern wooden casement windows that have two lights and small panes, supported by wooden lintels. The doorway also features a wooden lintel. This building was formerly known as The Rose and Crown Inn. Rose Cottage, along with the former Castle Hotel, The Bank House, the premises occupied by The National Westminster Bank, Old Bank House, and Abbot's Litten, forms a group with the timber-framed structure at the rear of No 87 Cheap Street.
