Description
The Bank House is an 18th century, two-storey building located on Long Street. It features a five-window ashlar front with a moulded cornice supported by brackets and a slate roof. The stone doorway is adorned with half-round Tuscan pilasters, an entablature that includes triglyphs and paterae, and a pediment. There are small recesses for scrapers on either side of the doorway. The sash windows have flush frames and glazing bars, and the rainwater heads are decorated with angels' heads. The Bank House is part of a group that includes premises occupied by Mr. Pearson, Rose Cottage, the former Castle Hotel, The National Westminster Bank, Old Bank House, and Abbot's Litten, as well as a timber-framed structure behind No. 87 Cheap Street.
