Description

St John's is a two-storey building dating from 1625, located on the north-west side of Long Street. It features a three-window early 19th-century ashlar front, likely built as an extension to the east of The Tudor Rose. The building has a slate gabled roof and a stone eaves cornice. The windows are sash style with glazing bars. The late Georgian stone doorway is adorned with carved floral ornaments on the entablature, a stone hood supported by brackets, a shallow rectangular fanlight, and a six-panelled door. This building is part of a group that includes premises occupied by Henry Durrant Antiques, Bernard of Mayfair, C M Hunt and Sons, The China Gallery, and Child's Garage, as well as the adjoining Tudor Rose.
