Description
This terrace comprises three Purbeck stone cottages located on the north side of High Street. They appear to date from the 18th century, though they may be of earlier origin. The buildings are one storey in height with attics above, and have basements.
Architecturally, the cottages feature Purbeck stone walls and a stone roof. Number 88 has a modern entrance door and two double-hung sash windows on the ground floor. The attic features two half-dormers with pent roofs and double-hung sash windows. The stonework below the dormers suggests the roofline has been raised. Number 90 is similar, with a modern flush door, one double-hung sash window on the ground floor, and two matching half-dormers in the attic. Number 92 has a flush panel door set within a good 18th-century classical surround. This includes reeded pilasters and an open pediment, with a solid moulded tympanum below the pediment. It also has one double-hung sash window on the ground floor and two half-dormers in the attic, consistent with the appearance of numbers 88 and 90. A straight joint between numbers 90 and 92 suggests they may have been built separately.
