Description

These gate piers, located 250 metres east-north-east of Forde Abbey, date from the late 18th century. They are made of ham-stone and are all square in shape. The main trio of tall piers serves the carriage entrance and features bases and cornices. Atop these piers are two large stone urns decorated with running vine designs and scrolled handles. Flanking the carriage entrance are two shorter gate piers for pedestrian access. The wrought iron gates, which were added in 1937, complete the entrance.
