Description

The estate yard located 150 metres north of Bridehead consists of farm buildings dating from the mid-19th century, designed by B. Ferrey. The complex includes a stable-block and barn, featuring rubble-stone walls with dressed stone quoins. The roofs are covered with clay tiles and have tile ridges. The gable copings are made of ashlar stone, with level feet and moulded kneelers. There are tall brick stacks with large square caps and chamfered bases, arranged in three on the eastern ridge and one on the south-west gable.

The layout is H-shaped, with the longer arms extending to the south, and the buildings are one and a half storeys high. The central arm has four windows, while each of the south side arms has two windows. The windows are fixed rectangular types with cast-iron glazing bars and chamfered jambs. There are tall gabled dormers with moulded kneelers and additional fixed windows with cast-iron glazing bars.

A large central doorway features a 4-centred head and straight-chamfered jambs, leading to a through-passage with a two-leaf plank door. There is also a smaller 4-centred doorway that provides access to a loft, set under a gabled head and supported by moulded kneelers. The yard is enclosed by 19th-century walls, which include octagonal gate piers topped with moulded cap-stones.
