Description
55 High West Street is a 17th-century building with a rendered exterior and a pitched slate roof. It stands two storeys tall and features two stone-mullioned windows on the first floor. The shopfront, dating from the 19th century, is canted and has a moulded cornice. At the rear, there is one mullioned window with 16th or 17th-century diagonal lead glazing bars. This property is part of a group that includes Nos 48 to 65A, the Shire Hall, Holy Trinity Church, the Museum, St. Peter's Church, and a monument to William Barnes located in the churchyard immediately south of the West Tower.
