Description
The Old Police Station is a mid to late 19th century building located on Coombe Street. It stands two storeys high, with a significantly taller front compared to the adjacent Nos 8 and 9. The building features two window bays and is clad in dressed flint, with some areas of knapped flint. It has a brick eaves bracket cornice and a rendered blocking course. The structure includes brick quoins, a brick toothed course, and a brick plaque above the doorway. The segmental headed sash windows lack glazing bars and are set in brick chamfered reveals with brick dressings and voussoirs. The doorway mirrors the window shape and features a ledged door and a brass bell. The plinth has a brick chamfer. The Old Police Station is listed for its group value and local historical interest, as it forms a group with Nos 6, 6A, and Nos 7 to 10.
