Description

Old Manor Cottage is a farmhouse that has been converted into a private dwelling. It dates from the late 16th century, with an addition made in the 17th century. The building features coursed rubble-stone walls with Ham Stone dressings and a thatched roof with gable ends and stone gable copings. There are brick stacks at the left-hand gable and a ridge stack located to the right of center, both of which are from the 17th or 18th century, while the right-hand gable stack was rebuilt in the 20th century.

The layout consists of a three-unit house with a rear range set at right angles from the center, accessible through a cross-passage. The cottage has two storeys and four windows, which include four-light hollow-chamfered mullions with iron casements and rectangular leaded lights, each with separate labels above. There are also three-light stone mullions with labels above, two of which are located at the left-hand end. The original doorway is situated to the right of center, featuring moulded stone jambs and a depressed-arch head, with a 20th-century plank door. An inserted doorway to the left of center has similar moulded jambs and head, also with a label above, and a 20th-century plank door. The rear range is gabled to the south and matches the height of the ridge, featuring three- and two-light stone mullions with labels above, dating from the 16th century. There is a doorway in the west angle connecting to the main range, which has a 20th-century plank and glazed door.

Inside, the central room has a compartmented ceiling with beams and an open fireplace. There is a newel stair located in the south-west corner of the kitchen.
