Description

Cornhill House is a stone house dating from 1625, with alterations and additions from the 18th and early 19th centuries. It is situated on Acreman Street and features a three-window stone rubble front facing down Cornhill. The windows are sash windows, with panes arranged three wide, and a half-pane on either end of the lower windows. A small triangular front garden is enclosed by iron railings and a gate, with spear-headed finials on the uprights and urn finials on the standards. A two-storey wing connects Cornhill House to Kitt Hill House at the north-east end of the Cornhill front; the portion belonging to Cornhill House is two window bays wide, with sash windows above. A segmental-headed carriage entrance is on the ground floor, accessed via modern ledged doors. The house has stone rubble walls and a slate gabled roof. The front garden railings and wing, along with Digby Estate Nos 121 and 122, form a group with Kitt Hill House, its garden walls, and railings.
