Description
This is a stone house with elements likely dating from the 18th century or earlier, formerly known as Horsecastles Farm. The front elevation, facing the road, has undergone significant alterations and is now cement-rendered with a panel treatment. It has two storeys, featuring a mix of two-light casement windows and sash windows. The layout from right to left is two two-light casement windows above, a three-light sash window below, another two-light casement above, a sash window below, and finally a two-light casement above a round-headed doorway. The doorway has a six-panelled door with the top two panels glazed, and a blank tympanum above. There is a blank bay at the south end. The south gable end is constructed of ashlar and contains windows with moulded stone frames and keystones, with the second-floor window being round-headed. The front railings have uprights with spiked finials, and square standards at intervals with urn finials. The front gate has uprights rising to different heights. Railings at the rear have uprights looped at the top in pairs; these extend from the northwest corner of the house to the north corner of the south range. The property forms a group with a wall to the south of Horsecastles House and an outbuilding to the northwest of Horsecastles House.
