Description
This is a pair of cottages on West Street in Corfe Castle, originally a single house dating from the early 18th century. Number 50A is currently used as an outbuilding. The cottages are constructed with coursed rubble stone walls and have stone slate roofs. They are one storey high with attics. Number 50 features a ledged door with a small glass panel. The ground floor has four casement windows with flat arches; one has horizontal glazing bars, and another occupies the former doorway. Three pent-roofed dormers with casement windows containing glazing bars are visible in the attic. Inside Number 50, the main ground floor room contains a large open fireplace with a timber lintol and a bread oven, and some exposed ceiling beams. Number 50A has two ledged doors. Its attic has a single pent-roofed dormer with casement windows and glazing bars. A later brick outbuilding is located on the left side. The property is owned by the National Trust.
