Description
No. 8 St Thomas Street is a small house that includes a shop, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The building is rendered, and the roof is not visible. It has two storeys and features one window, which is an 8:12:8-pane oriel bow with a dentil cornice, along with a small square light to the left. The late 19th-century shop front includes panelled pilasters with deep moulded consoles and a moulded cornice above a canted fascia. The symmetrical display window has a part-glazed door beneath a transom light. Additionally, there is an unpainted brick dentil cornice below a deep blocking-course with a coped parapet that is raised to a central curve, likely added in the early 20th century. The interior has not been inspected. Although it is mentioned in the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England report alongside Nos. 6 and 7, this building seems to be a separate construction from them.
