Description
49 High West Street is a late 18th-century building constructed of yellow brick. It stands three storeys tall and features three ranges of sash windows. The doorway is adorned with Doric pilasters and an entablature that projects forward over the pilasters. The door itself has six sunk panels and is topped by a fanlight. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 48 to 65A, the Shire Hall, Holy Trinity Church, the Museum, St. Peter's Church, and a monument to William Barnes located in the churchyard immediately south of the West Tower.
