Description
The Acorn is a detached cottage dating from the late 17th to early 18th century, situated at a right angle to the road in Bere Regis. It has brick walls and a half-hipped thatched roof, with brick stacks featuring oversailing caps. The two-storey south elevation has a brick porch with a tiled gabled roof and a round arched opening. The ground floor has three casement windows with glazing bars, while the first floor has two similar windows. A brick lean-to extension with a tiled roof projects from the east side. The main ground floor room contains a large open fireplace with a timber lintel. The building is recorded in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments as Monument 20.
