Description
Sherborne Abbey V C (C of E) Primary School, opened in 1857, was designed by architect Henry Hall from Duke Street, Adelphi. The building features stone walls and a tiled roof, with a central block on the south-east side comprising seven gabled bays. Each end and the center bay contain windows with four tall narrow lights that have cusped heads and splayed cills, while the end bays are wider and feature five-light windows. Above the projecting gabled porch in the center bay is a rose window. There is a doorway with a pointed head and an elaborately hinged door in the east return of the block. Further east, there is a two-storey block with three bays in different planes. The left bay has a gabled two-light casement window above and a three-light window below, along with single light windows in the east return of this bay. The right side has two additional window bays, featuring a three-light wooden casement and a two-light stone window above, along with a ledged door in a pointed frame and a stone splayed bay window below.
