Description
Stag Gate is a gateway built around 1840, located in Charborough Park, Sturminster Marshall. The structure is made of brick in Flemish Garden Wall bond, featuring blue headers and a plinth. It has a Roman arch of a simple design, with a tall arch flanked by wide pilasters. The arch includes a stone key and a stucco impost band. Above the arch, there are simple projecting brick bands that create a frieze, topped with a blocking course that is raised in the middle to support a thin slab. On this slab stands a figure of a stag. The gateway is completed with simple wrought iron gates.
