Description
Peacock Lodge, located in Charborough Park, is a lodge dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It features ashlar stone walls and a flat roof with a parapet. The central part of the lodge has a large elliptical arch that spans the drive and is flanked by lower single-storey blocks that serve as living accommodation, each with circular windows. Above the arch is an attic course topped with a figure of a stag. The curved stone wing walls extend from the blocks, ending in terminal piers. There is a 20th-century extension to the north-east block, which is also single-storeyed and has a flat roof. Simple iron gates are set within the archway. The lodge is part of a group that includes other lodges in Charborough Park, such as East Almer Lodge, Stag Gate, and Lion Lodge, which are listed in Sturminster Marshall Parish, Wimborne District.
