Description

The ice house in Charborough Park, located 50 meters west of the main house, dates from the 18th century with a mid-19th century ornamental plastered facade. The facade features a curved gable in Flemish style, complete with moulded capping. It has a round-headed arch with projecting voussoirs, and at each end of the facade, there are piers that support moulded caps and urns. At the top of the gable, there is a statue of Mercury standing on a globe. The gable also includes an inscribed tablet, which was renewed in the 20th century, commemorating the Revolution of 1688 and the accession of William of Orange. Behind the facade, a vaulted passage leads to the underground ice house, which has a studded door.
