Description
Charborough Tower is a Grade II* listed tower folly built in 1790, which was partly reconstructed and heightened in 1839 following lightning damage. The tower features plastered walls and a lead flat roof with a parapet, and it has an octagonal plan. It consists of five stages, each slightly recessed and separated by moulded string courses. The two lower stages have angle buttresses topped with pinnacles. A pointed arched doorway is located at the base, with a two-light traceried window above it. The three central stages contain blind windows, while the top stage features open traceried windows. Inside, a stone spiral staircase with an ornamental iron balustrade leads to the viewing chamber at the top.
