Two Monuments Approximately 5 Metres North East From West Tower Of Church Of St John

Two headstones located approximately 5 meters northeast from the west tower of the Church of St. John, made of Portland stone and dating from the mid-19th century. They are set very close together, with their inscriptions facing the tower. The first headstone features a segmental top and a plain thin surround with a sunk panel that bears the figure of a sailor gesturing towards a draped urn on a monument, adorned with small scroll decorations at the top. The inscription is almost worn away, but the name "JOHN GREEN" is just decipherable. The second headstone, situated immediately to the right of the first, also has a segmental top and a sunk panel in the upper part depicting a two-masted ship in full sail. Its inscription is nearly illegible, but the name "JOSEPH" is partially decipherable.
