Description

Dorey's Cottage is a detached house located on Grange Road in Church Knowle. A date stone on the porch indicates it was built in 1857, although it appears to have an earlier origin. The cottage features rubble stone walls, a slate roof, and a brick stack at the end. The south gable wall is plastered. It is two storeys high and has a two-storeyed front porch with a gabled roof. The porch includes a stone round-arched doorway with a ledged door, and above this is a casement window set under a stone moulding. Both the ground and first floors have two casement windows with glazing bars. There is a lean-to at the north end of the cottage, and a rear extension that is two storeys high with a flat roof, which contains a bread oven connected to the main fireplace.
