Description
This cottage, located to the east of 3 Penny Street in Sturminster Newton, is possibly from the 17th century. It features whitewashed rubble walls and a pantiled roof with a brick stack at the left gable end. The building is two stories high and has two windows. On the ground floor, there is a 19th-century sash window without glazing bars, and above it, there is a similar window. The front door, dating from around 1800, has six flush panels and an inset window with four lights that retains its original glass. A wooden hood is positioned above the door. Inside, there is a deep chamfered beam. The cottage was likely originally part of a larger structure to the left and faced a courtyard that has been opened up due to the demolition of nearby buildings.
