Description
Worton, the premises of A Hammond and Sons Ltd, is a house that has been converted into a shop and offices. The rear wing likely dates from the 17th century, while the front range was built around 1800. The building is rendered with ashlar quoins and features a slate gable roof. It has a nearly symmetrical facade with three storeys and three bays. To the left, there is a 19th-century shop front, and to the right, a three-light sash window set under a segmental arch. The central entrance has a door topped by a round fanlight. All windows are sashes, with those on the first floor positioned under segmental arches, and all feature glazing bars. Inside, there is a staircase from around 1800, and a room on the first floor at the rear has a cambered, deep chamfered beam. The ground floor includes a plain deep chamfered beam.
