Description
Higher Monkwood Farm Pig-Sty, located 5 metres south of the farmhouse, dates from the 18th century. It features coursed stone walls and a thatched roof with hipped ends. The east wall has two run-outs, and there is a small door in the south-east corner. The north wall contains a main plank door with strap hinges, and the pig-sty has wooden door frames. Inside, the structure has a collar-beam roof construction with two principal rafters and one set of butted-through purlins. The thatch is laid with light spars and there are no common rafters.
