Description

Court Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from approximately the early 18th century, with alterations in the 19th century. It is constructed of dressed and rubble stone, with a slate roof featuring stone gable copings, one of which has a scrolled kneeler block. Brick stacks are located at the ridge, left of centre, and at the right-hand gable. The farmhouse has two storeys and originally had four windows, now featuring 3-light cast-iron casements with iron glazing-bars. The windows have chamfered wooden lintels and cills. A 19th-century flush-panelled front door with four top lights was originally positioned to the right of centre, but the present entrance is located to the left, just beyond the gable end. A continuous original outshut extends at the rear, covered by a catslide roof. Inside, there are back-to-back part-open fireplaces in the left and centre rooms. A doorcase stair runs alongside the jambs, with 18th-century fielded-panel cupboards built into the reverse side underneath. A plank-and-muntin screen, in good condition and possibly a reproduction, is also present.
