Description

ARNE WORGRET ROAD SY 98 NW 6/18 Worgret Manor Hotel, including front boundary wall and piers - II Small manor house, now used as hotel. Early C19. Plastered walls - possibly cob in front range. Hipped tiled roof with stone eaves courses, central brick stack. T-shaped plan. 2 storeys. Pair of glazed doors, in C20 glazed porch, possibly incorporating original hood. Ground floor has 2 double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. First floor has 3 similar windows. Rear wing of similar construction, extended in C20 in matching style. Two round-headed dormers in this wing. Lower attached range on west, probably originally stables, of similar construction, with double-hung sash windows. C20 single- storey flat-roofed additions at rear. Cut string stair with shaped spandril brackets and wreathed handrail. Some panelled doors with reeded architraves. Front boundary wall of brick has brick piers with stone caps and onion-shaped finials. Probably contemporary with house. RCHM Monument 26. (Dorset Vol II)
