Description

Streche's Almshouses, built in 1907, are located on the north side of Worgret Road. The building is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and quoins, featuring a pitched tile roof and red brick stacks. The stone-coped gables are topped with Jacobean-type finials. The almshouses have a U-shaped plan and consist of one storey. The central block has an embattled parapet and includes three windows, with a central canted mullion and transom window. There are two doors and a lantern on the ridge topped with a copper pagoda roof. Each wing has one bay window with mullions, and there are elaborate stone cartouches above them. Additionally, there are six segment-headed porches with gables above and a total of twenty mullioned casements.
