Description

Number 48 on West Street is an 18th-century building constructed of stucco with a pitched tile roof, featuring coped gable ends and red brick stacks. It has two storeys and attics, with a brick modillion eaves cornice. The façade includes three ranges of sash windows with glazing bars. The doorcase is adorned with 19th-century pilasters, but retains its original Doric entablature, which includes spherical dentils, an open pediment, and a blind semi-circular fanlight. There are two attic dormers with tile-hung cheeks and casement windows. This building is part of a group that includes numbers 46 to 56 on the same side of the street.
