Description
The Roman Catholic Church of St Edward the Martyr, located at 1615 Salisbury Street, was dedicated on 21 September 1910. Designed by architect E Doran Webb from Salisbury, the church is built of ashlar Tisbury stone and showcases a Perpendicular style. The structure includes a nave, chancel, and transepts, with a tower positioned over the north-west transept. The entrance features a doorway with a pointed arch and carved spandrels, topped with a dripmould. Above the entrance, there is a three-light window, with each light having a cinquefoil head and a dripstone above. The nave contains windows of three lights with trefoil heads, and the tower is adorned with a castellated parapet. The church is part of a group that includes Nos 47, 49, 53 to 59 (odd), and Old Sarum.
